Fire Plugs

Most of us, when it comes to things Web, just take what we're served up and don't think too hard about it.

In fact, many users treat the Web a lot like they drive to work - the first couple of times they made the trek, they paid attention, established landmarks, learned how long it was going to take. From then on, it was "auto pilot." Throw a detour in the way, and we'll often get unduly confused.

This is true with our browsing experience as well.

Unless you're a geek.

Geeks love to tinker. And other geeks love to provide them the tools with which to tinker.

So every so often, if you're a geek, wannabee, or just curious, you might want to check out the plug-ins and addons for your favorite browser. Oh, and if you are a geek or wannabee, you're just going to have to use FireFox.

On Mozilla's website there is a handy area that catalogs all the latest and greatest FF addons: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/browse/ .

And here are just a few that are kind of fun and useful.

MeasureIt 0.3.8

Mouseless Browsing 0.5.2.1
by Rudolf Noe
Mouseless Browsing (MLB) enables you to browse the web entirely with the keyboard. The basic principle is to add small boxes with unique ids behind every link and/or form element. You just have to type in the id to trigger the corresponding action i.e. following a link, pressing a button or selecting a textfield.
