So, sometime around 1 week ago (about November 29 or so) one of the cats fried the router by peeing on it. (I'm serious.)
Foolishly, I unplugged it and went online without the hardware firewall (or a firewall of any kind). Within minutes I was getting notices of trojans and other viruses.
I unplugged very quickly, but not before havoc had been wrought. My computer was now infested - INFESTED - with viruses and spyware and malware of all kinds - at least 20 different varieties.
Not to worry, thinks I. I've got virus protection, and AdAware, and I can download Spybot.
There were lots of spyware type apps: Istbar.slotch,
