More Smart Phone Phun
Funny video was sent to me today - a child saying her name in slooow motion. It was very cute.
Then - who'd have expected it except those of us who believe in the gods of serendipity? - someone mentioned an app called "Tempo" that - takes videos in slow motion!
Well, I hunted for it, and couldn't actually find that app, but I did find a host of others that allow users to take video clips and perform all kinds of magic on them right on your smart phone.
For example, ClipSpeed allows you to make things up to 4x faster or slower. The only problem with this app is that it is hard to follow because it keeps trying to trick you into clicking on ads. Hey, you have to pay the programmers, right?
Still, there are any number of others to choose from, like Speed Pro, for example, which also allows variable speed control of your video.
Then, for a mere $1.99, you can play pro with an app called Videoshop - you can add music, create slow or fast motion, cut video together, and even add titles and SFX. Not bad for such a small investment, and all done with ease on your phone.
Of course I'm not suggesting that these apps would take the place of an editing suite, but then, for a quick, on the fly, on the spot video to post at an event, while-its-happening, it's hard to go wrong.
As I've often noted before, all it takes is imagination!
A couple of other can't live without 'em apps: Shazam and for FUN something called Zedge.
Shazam isn't new, but I find it indispensable. It's a simple little app - you hear a song, on tv, the radio, wherever. You can't think of the name, or you want to download it, or find out who the artist is. It's driving you crazy!
Simple solution: pull out your phone and click on Shazam - activate it (one tap) and it begins to listen. Literally (and I mean that in the real sense of the word!) within seconds you will have a response - typically, the song, the artist, and if it's a TV show, you'll even have a reference to the show and the episode as well. I have found lots of music to love this way, as well as saved my over-loaded brain from implode trying to remember "who sang that song? Who-who-who?"
Zedge is just silly, but I guarantee you will spend at least an hour with it. It's ostensibly a curation and purchase app for wallpapers (for phones), ring tones, and notification options.
But you'll probably spend the bulk of your time just listening to the silly, fun, creative, even real-darn-good ring tone options available. And you'll probably download at least one or two to apply to friends and family when they call. There are a variety of genres, from spoken word to country to hip hop to old TV themes. When I first downloaded this, my family and I sat around just listening to them and laughing at, or loving, or remembering each tone as we played it, and shouting at one another to "give me the phone!" so we could each have a turn at picking the next "good one!"
